A message from the nominating committee:

Dear Just Food Member-Owner,

It seems hard to believe that we are nearing our fifth year in business. As a young and growing enterprise, our progress has been due to the dedication and hard work of both our excellent Staff and our strong Board of Directors. The Staff handle the day-to-day operations. The Board of Directors, representing the member-owners, look at the big picture. They set long term goals, monitor progress, envision the future, and ensure the Co-op’s vitality and success. You are hereby invited to join in that process. It’s Your Co-op.

This fall, an unprecedented five Board Positions will be open and we are searching for member-owners who would like to consider applying to serve on the Board of Directors.

In addition to three positions currently held by board members who will be completing regular three-year terms, two other open positions include a two-year term and a one-year term to fill the incomplete terms of board members who regretfully had to resign for career and personal reasons. We are hoping you will decide that the time is right for you to contribute to the health and well-being of your Co-op, as well as to the community at large, by offering to serve on the Board of Directors.

You can pick up applications and get further information either on the web site (www.justfood.coop) or in packets available at the store. Included are:

1. Application form
2. Board of Directors job description
3. Explanation of the nominating process which we will be following.

Several dates to be aware of as you determine whether or not you may wish to run for office:

1. July. Orientation meetings for potential applicants in order to answer your questions and to explain the nature of the commitment and the Co-op’s operating principles.
2. August 16. Deadline for submission of applications to the Nominating Committee.
3. August 28. Recommendations to the Board from the Nominating Committee. You will be hearing from the Nominating Committee or the Board after that date.
4. September 6. Deadline for member-owner supported candidates which requires at least ten signatures of current member-owners.
5. October 21. The election of the new members to the Board of Directors will take place at the Annual Meeting.
