Celebrate Earth Week at your favorite natural food co-op! That’s right, from April 21 through April 26 visit Just Food Co-op for a drawing for fabulous eco-friendly prizes, free classes, a tree giveaway, and electric car test drives!

The Drawing
Just Food will be rewarding you for your eco-friendly actions from Monday, April 21- Saturday, April 26. Each time you reuse a bag, use your own mug for coffee, or walk or bike to the store to do your shopping, you will get to enter your name in a drawing for fabulous eco-friendly prizes generously donated by local businesses. You could win an organic t-shirt or hemp bag from The Rare Pair, a certificate for a spring bicycle tune-up and a set of lights from Milltown Cycles, a gallon of low-VOC EcoSpec paint from Young’s Paint Center, or a four-pack of compact fluorescent lightbulbs from REALL Energy.

The Classes
We’ll also hold a free class each evening from Monday through Thursday to give you ideas on how you can reduce your environmental impact. Please preregister for classes, which will be held in the Just Food Event Space (formerly the Mercantile). “Design & Build a Rainwater Collection System” will be held on Monday at 6 p.m. Tuesday at 7 p.m. join us for “How to Start your own Neighborhood Share”. Wednesday we’ll host “Spring Cleaning” at 7 p.m. and Thursday we invite you to “Solar Solutions for your Home” at 7 p.m.. Then on Friday we’re hosting a free showing of the film “Garbage! The Revolution Starts at Home” (rated G) beginning at 7 p.m.

The Trees & The Car
But the fun doesn’t stop there! For all you tree lovers out there, you can pick up free trees in the Just Food parking lot on Friday, April 25 from 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 from 11-1. The tree giveaway is in celebration of Arbor Day and is sponsored by the Northfield EQC, the Rice County Forestry Committee, and Just Food Co-op. And if you didn’t get a chance to test drive the all-electric ZENN car when it was here last year, you’re in luck! The car will be available for free test drives on Saturday, April 26 from 10-4 in the Just Food parking lot. ZENN and Linden Hills Co-op representatives will be here to answer your questions during that time.
