Many Just Food Co-op member/owners are already part of the new tradition of community contra dance that’s gotten underway in Northfield. But this Friday’s 4th Annual Northfield Harvest Stomp! – at the Northfield Armory brings a new reason to join the fun.
The dance is being dedicated to Northfield area farmers and small scale food producers who are increasingly bringing back the bounty of the local harvest to Northfield. In honor of our farmers, dance organizers are offering free admission for local farmers and small scale commercial growers of food! Also, in appreciation for your support of local growers, member-owners of Just Food Co-op who give their membership number at the door will be offered a reduced admission of $6.
So come celebrate the (Local!) Harvest with those who make it possible! This dance will feature the music of Contratopia (fyi their fiddler is an organic farmer!) and will be led by caller Robin Nelson.
General Admission is $9 adults; $6 for students (Carleton students receive free admission courtesy of the Carleton Student Association); and all local farmers dance for free!
No dance experience needed; no partner required. Contra dance is easy to learn. Arrive in time to join in the dance lesson at 7pm (recommended for everybody). Doors open at 6:30 pm. Comfortable shoes are recommended; festive (swing-ready) attire is encouraged! All ages are welcome, but joining in the contra dance may be challenging for youth under 10 years of age.
