An early fall day is the perfect time to celebrate the harvest and the changing of the season with family and friends. Just Food Co-op invites everyone to theHarvest Festival on Saturday, September 18 from 11-2 in the Just Food parking lot at 516 Water St. S. in downtown Northfield. The Harvest Festival, the final event of the month-long Eat Local Challenge, offers a chance to taste some outstanding local foods and meet local farmers and producers. Event-goers will also be treated to live music and have the opportunity to make art at ArtOrg’s steamroller print workshop.
The Harvest Festival is a wonderful opportunity to meet and chat with local farmers and producers about their products and business practices while sampling their delicious fare. This year, festival-goers will be treated to samples from Angelica’s Garden, Sogn Valley Orchard, Wisconsin Growers, Silver Lake Farm, Labore Farms, Open Hands Farm, L&R Produce and Poultry, Big Woods Farm CSA, CocoKefir, Hawkwind Mustards, Callisters Farm, Beelers, Chippewa Valley Cheese, Singing Hills Goat Dairy, and Fermented Garden. There will also be an opportunity to preorder a locally-grown, heritage turkey for Thanksgiving.
This year’s festival will showcase two great bands: Templeton (11-12:15 a.m.) and Dumbfinger (12:30-2:00 p.m.).
The Harvest Festival is an annual free fall celebration hosted by Just Food Co-op. Everyone is invited to attend.
