Local Lettuce!

For a short time only, all of Just Food’s lettuce is coming from either Wisconsin or Minnesota. We have three main suppliers of this lettuce; they are Wisconsin Growers, Open Hands, and Full Circle. Each has their own unique varieties of lettuce. The main varieties are red leaf, green leaf, and romaine. They also have some cool specialty lettuces. Red and green Bibb lettuce are the special varieties Just Food carries. The Bibb lettuce is a very soft lettuce that is quite fragile. It has a very mild, buttery taste, and a unique texture. Deemed a “gourmet” lettuce, it’s a great way to switch up your salads.

The lettuce season is not very long and lasts only 4-5 weeks in the spring and 4-5 weeks in the fall. Try some of our local lettuces today before it’s all gone. Because of both the quality and the taste, we hope you’ll agree that the local lettuces can’t be beat.
