Co-op owners, please join us for the Owner Celebration & Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 26!
This year, we’re thrilled to bring guest speaker Ken Meter to town to talk about “Local Foods for Local Recovery”. Mr. Meter is one of the most experienced food system analysts in the U.S., integrating market analysis, business development, systems thinking, and social concerns. As president of Crossroads Resource Center in Minneapolis, Meter holds 39 years experience in inner-city and rural community capacity building. His “Finding Food in Farm Country” studies have promoted local food networks in 45 regions in 20 states, and one Canadian province. As coordinator of public process for the City of Minneapolis Sustainability Initiative, he guided over 85 residents in creating a 50-year vision for the city including sustainability measures. He heads the proposal review process for USDA Community Food Projects. Meter taught economics at the University of Minnesota, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
The Owner Celebration & Annual Meeting will be held at The Grand in downtown Northfield from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26 (Why did we add “Owner Celebration” before “Annual Meeting”? Because it really is a celebration, and we have so much fun we wanted the event name to reflect that!) The night begins with live music by Dumbfinger and tasty samples of some of our delicious foods (including chicken from Callister Farm and milk & ice cream from Cedar Summit Farm!). You’ll hear about how we’ve done this past year from our General Manager and our Board President, followed by Mr. Meter’s presentation. There is a cash bar at The Grand to add to the merriment.
Note: Just Food will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26 so that our employee owners may attend our Annual Meeting.
